ABOUT US

OUR history:

Koop’s Service was established in 1995 at the original location of 114 Government Road, Black Diamond. Father and son, Gene and Shane Koopman ran the shop as Koop’s continued to grow and change.

​

As the business grew, a larger facility was required and the current location at 309 Government Road became the new home for Koop’s Full Service. This site included a gas station and convenience store as well as the auto repair and tire shop.

 

In 2008, the fuel tanks were removed and fuel sales came to an end so we could dedicate our time and energy to client care. Koop’s is now a full service automotive shop, concentrating on what we do best – diagnostics and repair. Red Seal Journeymen Service Technicians work with us and we also have Apprentice Technicians, Tire Technicians and Service Writers.

Koop’s is and has always been a family owned and operated business.

Behind our counter and under our hoists are a dedicated group of people. Koopman or not, we are all part of the family at Koop’s.

Since 1995, Shane has been building and guiding the business side of Koop’s Service. His vision from the start has been to create a small-town automotive shop offering unparalleled service and quality.

​

Not from the area but a local now, Shane shares his community spirit through the support of local events and groups. He spends his off time coaching his son’s various sporting activities and dirt biking with family and friends.

Melodie joined the Koop’s family when she married Shane in 2004. She took over administrative duties soon after their son Stetson was born.

​

Melodie trained in business and was successful in the oil industry before taking on her current roles as a busy mother and local business woman. Melodie is an avid dirt biker and loves to bike with family and friends on the weekends.

Arthur Pittman

Jordan started his automotive career in Cranbrook BC taking 1st and 2nd year Automotive Service Technician (AST) at the  College of the Rockies then completing his 3rd and 4th year at SAIT in Calgary. Jordan received  the highest mark for 4th year student in any trade in all of NWT.

 

In Yellowknife Jordan worked at Napa Auto Pro then Yellowknife Chrysler Arctic Cat. Working on all aspects of vehicle mechanics and servicing Arctic Cat, Snowmobiles and Quads as well as Forest River Campers.  

​

In 2010 Jordan and his new family moved to Okotoks and in 2019 he joined the Koops team as the General Shop Foreman. Jordan loves the diversity of work, the sense of community and being part of a family owned business that puts the client first.

Arthur joined the Koop’s team in 2009. Raised on a farm, his mechanical abilities come from years of experience fixing everything from chainsaws to bobcats, tires to trucks.

 

 

A Black Diamond local, he can often be found out in the hills making trails on his quad.
